Africa's oldest
independent nation, a land whose wealth of history is matched by spectacular
natural beauty & a rich culture patterned by a mosaic of diverse and fascinating
peoples. Ancient relics show that man first walked on earth here seven million
years ago. Today our lands are also home to some of the rarest wildlife in
Africa, to many hundreds of brightly coloured birds and to rare and unique
plants that make Ethiopia a very special country.
Lake Tana is one of many lakes that enrich our countryside. Relaxing resorts
will host you while you explore inland monasteries, or discover Tisisat - the
smoke of fire - where the Blue Nile thunders over the spectacular Falls.
East Africa is an adventure waiting to happen. Mt Kilimanjaro, Masai
tribesmen, herds of wild elephants roaming the plains, the Africa of your dreams
comes to life. Consisting of Ethiopia, Uganda, Dijibouti, Kenya & Tanzania.
The Bale Mountains are another temptation for the tourist who wants to
see untouched nature. Endemic Nyala, Menelik Bushbuck and Red Fox all roam at
will, and the Sof Omar Caves are magical experience never to be forgotten. In
the Rift Valley is Ethiopia's land of lakes. Lakes Abiyata and Shalla are famed
for their variety of birds, while Lake Langano is a haven for fishermen who try
their luck with the Nile Perch. Further south the unspoilt national parks such
as Omo, Nago and Gambela provide the greatest safari opportunities. Exploring
Ethiopia is the experience of a lifetime. Unspoilt, historic, diverse, natural,
but above all - hospitable. Now is the time to discover Ethiopia.
